Basic/foundational training in a clinical area of focus.

The purpose of this requirement in your TIC Proficiency training is to add to your clinical knowledge and skills, and to do so regarding a specific modality of treatment or area of skills, that addresses trauma and attachment issues.

The format of the training will depend on your area of focus. (It is possible that HFT will be able to assist with some of the costs of this training. Please discuss this with Jim.)

The target modalities and areas of skills include, but are not limited to:
  • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
  • Attachment (i.e. "Circle of Security" approach)
  • Attachment and Trauma Assessment
  • DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy)
  • EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing therapy)
  • Family Therapy
  • Mindfulness and other Mind/Body Interventions
  • TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
  • Theraplay, and Play Therapy
The GOAL of this requirement (on Level Two) is to complete at least half of the required training to be certified (if certification is available) or to be competent to practice in this modality or skill area.  (The second half of the required training for certification and competency will be a requirement of Level Three in your TIC Proficiency training plan.)

​For VERIFICATION, report the completion of this portion of your training to your supervisor.
